ESSAY 5: THE MOST DIFFICULT COLLEGE CLASSES

Posted on: April 3, 2009

Do you agree or disagree with this following statement?

It is much better to take the most difficult and challenging classes in university or at college even if it means that you probably will not get top grades (marks) in them.

Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Nowadays, some college students take the hardest classes in university on many purposes although they know that they can’t get top grades for them. I agree with those students. In fact, I think it is better to take the most difficult and challenging classes in college even if it will not ensure that we can get the highest grades.

Firstly, students can learn much more knowledge in most difficult classes. The important purpose of going to college is getting knowledge, not have best grades. If students apply for the most challenging classes, they have to study very much harder so they can get incredible amount of knowledge although they can’t get good grades. This is the most effective way to approach a student’s education.

Secondly, taking the most difficult classes in university is the best way to get a good job in future. When you are already familiar with a hard-working environment in school, it is very easy to take a hard and challenging job because you already have the necessary skill to do that job. Also, as mentioned above, when taking the hardest classes, you will have wider knowledge to apply for a job. Furthermore, some employers don’t even care about grades in lower classes because they know that everyone could get an A in these classes. This means that taking the hardest classes can show your real ability to the employers, like getting a C+ in those classes show that you are much better than many others students get an A+ in lower classes.

In conclusion, it is much better for college students to take the hardest classes even if their grades are not the best. They can gain more knowledge this way, and this is also the best way to get a good job. When I go to college, I will make sure that every class I take is challenging.
